They were retrofitted with gun shields for the foreward mg with the introduction of the 'B' model. (one source says 'C' model. 'C' model production began in 1940. A few of these may have been in Poland. 1st Panzer had a company in 1939 and a battalion in 1940 (1st Schutzen Rgt) while 2nd and 3rd Rgt had only a company (in 2nd Pz and 3rd Pz Div, respectively. None of the other 7 Panzer Div had armored Schutzen companies. And 251 A and B production ended in 1940. I believe that the earlier versions of the 2...John,<br />I believe that the earlier versions of the 251 lacked the gun shield. There are images of these vehicles with sandbags piled up around the front mg as an impromptue form of 'shield'. I'd also be wary of the box art as it looks to have been recycled from the 1/72 and 1/35 scale versions of the same kits. The Katyusha is a prime example!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
