More mucking about with my Bambu Mini; Sharpe's Rifles now serve the Imperium?

it even sort of looks like Sean Bean

The other day J&R told me that he had gotten STLs for a 40K Guardsman unit styled after the 95th Rifles, yes those 95th Rifles of Sharpe's Rifles fame. He doesn't have a 3D printer right now and doesn't want to deal with the chemicals and odors of the resin printer that is the recommended manner of printing the files. I told him that I had been having excellent results with my Bambu Mini (after a few tweaks). I suggested that we try printing a few of the files just to see how they would look coming from an FDM machine.

I confess that I wasn't thrilled to see that the mini was broken down into several parts as tiny bits are a bother to handle while removing supports. After some fiddling with the orientation to reduce supports to a minimum we gave it a try. You see the result above. the shoulder joints need to be cleaned up a bit for a tighter fit but, that aside, it came out very well. At a cost of roughly three cents per mini I can afford to make adjustments to get the very best print possible.

  1. FDM printers have gotten SO much better. It's simply amazing.

  2. Nice figure, I'm sure Sharpe would have fired more than 3 times a minute with that gun!
