Having completed the hard paint jobs (Spanish and Chinese) I got cracking on the Luftwaffe units. These are in the standard green/black-green over light blue color scheme. I was careful about making sure that I used decals to indicate different units (although I'm not at all certain that the markings are correct chronologically or geographically). Things went smoothly and most of the decals were good (aside from the lack of tail swastikas). My penchant for mixing my own colors slowed things but not too badly.
having learned the hard way that yellow paint covers nothing except white
the greens went on next, followed by a coat of gloss for the decals, on the next batch of biplanes I will try leaving the top wing off until the end to make painting the fuselage easier
while the gloss coat was drying I added the windscreens to the two finished kits
decals went on without a hitch, although I did have one set dissolve into fragments due to age I had reserves from other projects so I was able to replace them
a shot of matte coat and then the windscreens and they were ready to go
All told I put in about four hours painting these models. This represents a vast saving of time as I was able to move from one kit to the next as paint was drying and I only had to mix one batch of colors. The only things left are painting the pilots and attaching the bombs
