More Spartacon Prep

the armies align for battle

Tom and I are also running a 28mm Romans vs Macedonians game for Spartacon using Hail Caesar rules. Just to be sure of the scenario (and to freshen up a bit on the rules) we ran a test game at my place this last weekend. It was jolly fun and I do love the sight of hundreds of 28mm figures battling it out on the table! Most of the usual suspects were there (except Joe.....where were you Joe?) so it was great to start the year off with a full house.

the Macedonians overweighted their left flank and lunged forward

at one point R.U.P. donned Hoplite armor to inspire his troops
(the beret was to emphasize the elite nature of the Hypaspists)

it took a while but the left hook finally slammed home and crushed the Roman right flank

"elephants, phalanxes and Hypaspists, Oh My! "

The game played well, things were hanging in the balance until the very end and we were done in about three hours, so it will fit nicely into the allotted time slot. See you all in Lansing this Saturday!

  1. Looks like a jolly good time. Nice to see a table full of miniatures. I got a copy of "Too the Strongest" these I understand a great for massive battles.
