Fresh off the presses at HaT comes a selection of ACW infantry and command figures. Represented are Union troops marching, Confederate troops marching a group of command figures that are usable for either side and a sampler box that has one sprue of each type in it. These are all cast in a soft shocking blue plastic that takes detail well and shows very little flash. The single-themed boxes come with standard HaT box art (which means well above average) and the sampler set has a childishly drawn scene and Spanish language labeling. The back of the box shows digital renders of the figures that are in the set.
All of the troops wear a mixture of uniforms but none are in greatcoats. The Union set features Hardee hats while the Confederate set has soft hats; in both boxes a fair number of the models are wearing kepis. The Command set has standard bearers, drummers, and officers one of whom is mounted, the equestrian sculpt is very well done.
the first box contains 48 marching Union infantry, just the troopers, no officers
side A of the sprue
side B of the sprue, a nice variety of similar but not identical poses
the detail shows up better after a coat of white paint
well proportioned and realistically posed with correct equipment
the Command set
box with contents, four matching sprues
I have to confess that I'm not a fan of molded flags so I was happy
when I saw that the standard bearers were holding empty poles, these
figures can serve as officers for either side
crisp detail with only a minimum of flash
a coat of white paint brings out the detail
the Confederate marching box art
box with contents, four sprues of marching Rebs
sprue side A
sprue side B
once again the white brings out the excellent detai
These are excellent figures, well proportioned and reasonably posed, the models are well cast and exhibit excellent detail. They represent excellent value being priced at $11.99 for the sets of 48 figures and $10.99 for the sampler set. If you are contemplating gaming or dioramas in 20mm these will be a welcome addition . These appear that they will mix well with the extensive range of ACW figures released last year by Strelets R and provide even more variety. By combining sets from these two manufacturers you could easily build units of forty or more miniatures with no duplication of poses
Highly recommended.
Interesting that you posted this. I just printed a building in 1/72 by mistake. It seem I need 59% reduction instead of 77%. Currently I'm waiting for my copies of Napoleonic War buildings and equipment. I will no longer have to paid a small fortune on the the wagons, equipment and buildings of the period. There is a new Civil War Kickstarter coming down the pick shortly. Now what you think of a complete Monte Cassino in 15mm or 1/72... That is in my newest purchase of files. Happy New Year Buddy
