box art, a good start on how to paint the miniatues
the box with contents
horse sprue, side A
these appear to be the same horses used in all the other Rif War sets
horse sprue, side B
riders sprue side A
the posing is particularly good, far too many figures have the rider leaning backward,
it is far more realistic to have them leaning forward
riders sprue, side B
superb energy with the flowing robes draped very effectively
these should be very easy to paint
the equipment and faces are very well detailed
and the posing and anatomy is first-rate
this figure is simply superb, the sculptor captures the energy and ferocity of a close-in attack, they have posed the rider with his left hand pulling the reins away to the left, this would turn the horse's head away from the path of the lethal blow that he is about to deliver,
I wish other sculptors paid such attention to detail
Another set of minis that is up to the very best efforts of Strelets R; the detail, anatomy and posing set the standard for the entire field of 1/72nd soft plastic minis. This set completes the series for the Rif War (unless, one can hope, Strelets intends to do the Spanish troops that opposed them) and does it in style. These figures can be used for the entire series of conflicts that occurred across the North African coast over the period 1880 through 1935. The size will mix well with other figure manufacturers but the quality might make the rest look rather shabby. If you have an interest in modelling or wargaming the Rif War these should be your first choice.
