A Return to the Tower

of course an interior gallery needs supports
displayed this way it looks weirdly like a sci-fi thing

Now that I have completed the Arena I am free to turn my attentions to the Hexagon Tower once more. Last we saw the tower the stonework had been completed  and the two levels had been assembled. Last night I installed an interior walkway in the ground floor and added a roof for the second level. No great advance but every little bit is a step forward and I only have a week left to meet Angry Piper's deadline of August 31st.

the walkway and railing in place
now I need to add windows to shoot from

as I had planned on making the top of the tower slightly wider than the tower
I needed to add supports for the structure

I might have gotten a bit carried away

I cut the top from a sheet of matte board
and added a parapet and crenelations from blue board

it turned out to be a rather large model

a Foundry Prussian Jager looks lost on the roof

to balance the size of the top I made a base for the tower to stand on
the 15mm armies on the other half of the table stare in awe at the
gigantic tower that has suddenly appeared on the battlefield

it fits well enough on the base from my other medieval tower project

With a week left I should be able to get this little project finished. Of course I find myself wondering what I'm going to do with it as I have two Hudson & Allen castles, and the odd half dozen towers and castles I have already built. Perhaps I will auction it off and donate the proceeds to  veteran's charity.

  2. You’re able to achieve SO MUCH with foam and a hot wire. The tower looks killer so far. 😀
